Light the Night
Last year Break the Grey participated in the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk, which raises awareness and funds for blood cancers. We walked in memory
of Nick Myers, a beautiful 8-year-old who lost his battle with
acute lymphoblastic leukemia on July 12, 2008. This year we have
the privilege of walking in honor of Eli Hutchins.
Eli was diagnosed on September 12, 2007 with
T-Cell Lymphoblastic Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Since learning of his
relapse in February of this year, he has fought the most courageous
battle. Unfortunately, the cancer refuses to relent. It has
returned in his blood and bone marrow more than once, and attempts
at remission in order to prepare him for a bone marrow transplant
have yielded sub-optimal results. Still, Eli refuses to give up. He
is currently undergoing intense chemotherapy and trying for
remission again, with the goal of a bone marrow transplant in his
near future.
This year, the walk will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Waterfront Park in Louisville, KY.
